Obituary: Carl Wayland Bennett

Carl Wayland Bennett, 74, passed away August 4, 2012 at his home in Carson City, Nevada, after a long battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, Sally, of 55 years, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was born on June 27, 1938 in Santa Barbara, California, to Jack and Ann Bennett. He graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1956. Carl was a member of the Nevada Army National Guard from 1954 until 1993. Carl and his beloved wife, Sally, were married November 3, 1956 at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Carson City, Nevada. They moved to Carson City in 1958. Carl went to work for the Highway Department and retired in 1989 after 31 years. Carl and Sally traveled for several years and returned to Carson City in 2000. Carl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family very much and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Hugh. He is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Mechele (Tom), Susan (Keith); son, Brian (Joy); grandchildren, Christina, Kaitlin, Allen, Patrick, Christian, Sarah; great-granddaughter, Madison; brothers, Albert and Wally.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11am at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 3000 Lompa Lane, Carson City, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Church.
