Comstock starts mining

Comstock Mining Inc. of Virginia City said last week it's hauling ore from its Lucerne mine to its process area in American Flat.

The company said it was able to bring the return of full-scale mining the Virginia City and Gold Hill area after it completed a six-month process that included construction of a new crushing facility.

Comstock says it expects to produce about 20,000 ounces of gold a year from its operations in the Virginia City area.
