Obituary: Margaret Anna Brode

Margaret Anna Brode passed away on August 29, 2012. She was born Margaret Anna Sorensen in Las Vegas, NV on September 9, 1938 to Hazel Pearl Harrison and William Justin Sorensen. Margaret grew up in Las Vegas and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1956. During her high school years, she was involved in many clubs and sang on the radio and TV. Shortly thereafter, she married James Gibson Buckler. They had 5 children together. While working as an operator for Centel Phone in 1965, she met the love of her life David N. Brode. They married in 1966, then added 2 more children to their already large family. At David's passing they were married for 42 years. While living in Las Vegas, she co-owned and operated Mr. Fish & Chips, a family restaurant. In 1975 the family migrated to Carson City, NV, where she resided until her passing. Margaret not only was a loving mother and homemaker, but also helped lovingly raise many children under her care, as she ran a childcare from her home for many years. Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband David and her 3 sons, James Edward, John Mitchell, and Kenneth Paul Buckler. She is survived by her brothers and their wives William and Mary Ann Sorensen of Boulder City, NV and Gary & Grace Sorensen of Pineville, MO; her daughter Dawn Lake of Tucson, AZ, her daughters and sons-in-law: Tina and Wayne Mayberry, Leanne and David Lowe, and Theresa and Ronald Lupo, all of Carson City, NV and daughter-in-law Kim Christensen and her niece Rennie Brode. She is also survived by her grandchildren: DJ, Krista, Alicia, Peter, Devon, Shea, Katrina, Krystal, Brianna, Liam, Desiree, Keri, Danielle, Samantha, Regan, Sebastian, and Sullivan, who was born on the day her beautiful grandmother had to leave us. She also leaves behind 22 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Thank you to the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, of which Margaret was a member, for their assistance through Margaret's illness and passing. Private burial arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date.
