Yerington teacher lunches with the president in D.C.

(AP) - President Barack Obama is a french fry sharer.

That's what Yerington school teacher Kathleen Toigo learned last week after she was selected to have lunch with the president at a Washington, D.C., restaurant. Toigo said Obama offered to share his lunch order and teased her for ordering a salad during the hour-long meal.

Toigo won the lunch with Obama after she made a $10 donation to his re-election campaign, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The Obama campaign has held three "Dinner with Barack" events since he became president. The contest is a campaign-building tool for the president ahead of the November election.

Toigo said eating lunch with Obama was "like winning the lottery."

"He actually asked if we wanted some of his fries," Toigo recalled. "And I thought, this is the president of the United States asking if we'd like to share his fries."

Toigo, an early childhood special education teacher, was one of four people selected to dine with the president on Friday.

"He looks right at you and just is listening very intently to what you're saying, and that was just kind of amazing, I thought," she told the Sun. "It was really close up, like you were having lunch with your friends."

She said she talked to Obama about her family, education funding, her work and how he balances campaigning and governing. She plans to campaign for him this year, just as she did in 2008.
