Healthy hearts the aim of wool retailer's book

Laura Zander wants her first book to be filled with heart.

Zander, owner of Jimmy Beans Wool in Reno, has written "Knit Red," which combines 30 patterns for garments and accessories all of them created from red yarns with information about heart health for women.

The 144-page book published by Sixth & Spring Books retails for $19.95. A portion of its proceeds will benefit the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in support of The Heart Truth, a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease.

Jimmy Beans Wool is an online yarn and fabric retailer.

Zander and four of the designers whose work is featured in the book Jeanne Giles, Kristen Ashbaugh-Helmreich, Diane Soucy and Ann Norling will host a book-signing from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Jimmy Beans Wool, 1312 Capital Blvd.
