Carboline Company, a maker of industrial coatings and fireproofing products, said last week it acquired a 184,500-square-foot warehouse in Dayton for a western expansion.
The company said earlier it expects to employ about 60 people in northern Nevada.
Carboline, headquartered at St. Louis, hired Miles Construction of Mound House to remodel and upgrade the industrial building at 95 Airpark Vista Blvd. Carboline expects to invest several million re-tooling the site, with production targeted in September. The building originally was constructed for Amway, says Rebecah Wiegardt, executive business administrator for Miller Industrial Properties.
It's the third U.S. coatings plant for Carboline, which was founded in 1947.
"We have enjoyed significant success both domestically and internationally over the past several years, and we continue to invest internally to support our growth," says President Richard Wilson. "This third coatings manufacturing facility supports our long-term strategy of maintaining our leadership position in the industrial and marine coatings markets in North America and internationally."
Carboline's coatings, linings and fireproofing products are widely used by industrial, commercial and architectural industries for long-term protection and beautification of steel and concrete structures from corrosion, erosion and fire damage.
The Northern Nevada Development Authority met with company executives several times to to attract Carboline to northern Nevada, says Rob Hooper, NNDA director. Tom Miller of Miller Industrial Properties was NNDA's team lead on the project and help negotiate Carboline's lease.
