Obituary: Timothy Gordon Bissell

Timothy Gordon Bissell, longtime Carson City resident, passed away March 26, 2012 of cancer at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 11, 1941, in Anaconda, Montana, to M. George and Marian Bissell who later moved to Carson City.

Tim attended Carson City schools and Dartmouth College. He joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and attended the foreign language school in Monterey, Calif., specializing in Arabic. He was stationed in Ethiopia as a communications specialist where he served for four years.

After leaving the Army in 1966, Tim worked for Pacific Bell in San Francisco for 20 years and retired. He then returned to Carson City where he worked for several companies. He retained his proficiency in Arabic throughout his life.

Mr. Bissell is survived by a brother, Peter Bissell of Denver, Colo., two nieces, a nephew and two grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Pamela Bissell Crowell and his longtime companion, Patricia Potter, both of Carson City.

At his request, no services are planned. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
