The new cross that Jacky Eddy put up to honor her daughter Olivia.

Family grateful to strangerAfter the cross, marking the spot of the passing of my daughter Olivia, was stolen in September, an article was put in the Nevada Appeal asking for help to find the cross. The cross was not returned but there were calls. Another lady, as myself, had lost a child. Her son’s cross was stolen too. Then a man named Ray called me, he told me he didn't know where my daughter’s cross was but he wanted to help. He asked if he could build my daughter a new cross. I could not believe that a stranger would want to do this for my family. I just want to thank Ray for the beautiful cross that he built.God bless you and thank you from my family. We put the cross back up on her birthday Oct. 21.There are not enough word to say how thankful we are to Ray.Jacky EddyDaytonThank you for helping early votersThank you to Sandra Fluke for accompanying voters on Oct. 20 to early voting. Our school raised close to $8,000 to help support the school. A huge thank you goes out to Best Buy, CV Sports, Target, Walmart, the Bike Smith and the Bike Habitat for their generous contributions of prizes that we awarded to our students. We could not have done it without them. Also, in September, Fremont held our 20 year celebration of being in our new building. We had an open house with cake and ice cream. Thank you to the Red Hut restaurant for their donation of the ice cream and paper products to make this party a success.Thank you to McDonalds for supplying gift cards to help say thank you to the bus drivers, custodians, and other support staff who help our students be here and learning. Finally, Southwest Gas has been an amazing Partner in Education with Fremont Elementary. Workers from the gas company came to our garden and habitat and helped clean them up, add a shed, worked on the sprinkler system, and did many other projects. It looks amazing. Southwest Gas also sent volunteers to help students do their science fair experiments. They took students through the scientific process, and reinforced to our students that science is fun. Thank you to those businesses who continue to support the education of our students at Fremont Elementary.Debbie MariskanishCarson City
