Wing Wars return this weekend

Expect feathers to fly.The second annual Ultimate Wing Wars contest is returning to the Best Western Carson Station Hotel Casino.The chicken wing cook-off event will take place Friday through Sunday, in the Carson Station parking lot at 900 S. Carson St.“Last year’s inaugural chicken wing cook-off event was a tremendous success with thousands in attendance,” said Jennifer Russell, Carson Station’s director of marketing. “This is year we’re upping the ante with more wings, more prizes, more music and more fun.”The event will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Organized by W.R. “Willie” Davison the self-proclaimed “Chicken Wing King,” the region’s best bars, restaurants and catering groups will serve up a their superbly sauced wings to the public and prepare for battle. “With so many talented cookers lined up for this event, we’re expecting a true fight for the title,” said Davison. Attendees will help choose the winner of this war, based on the tastiest sauce and most tender wings.Carson Station’s Ultimate Wing Wars will also feature dozens of vendors for shopping, kids games and casino giveaways and special promotions inside the newly remodeled Carson Station Hotel Casino.Admission is free to The Ultimate Wing Wars at Carson Station. Wing sampler plates start at $3.To accommodate traffic for the event, Curry Street will be closed between Eighth Street and Tenth Street from 8 a.m. Friday through 8 p.m. Sunday.
