The Western Nevada Development District headquartered in Carson City has received the National Association of Development Organization's 2012 Innovation Award for the strategic planning process called "Stronger Economies Together."
The initiative brought together representatives of Carson City and Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and Washoe counties to create a regional plan to strengthen the economy.
