James Faulds, director of the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology at the University of Nevada, Reno, bested 100 scientists nationwide to earn the federal Department of Energy Peer Review Excellence Award for his project, "Characterizing Structural Controls of EGS and Conventional Geothermal Reservoirs."
Faulds, who also serves as the Nevada state geologist, is halfway through the project to characterize geothermal potential at nearly 500 sites throughout the Great Basin.
