Days after two bombs killed three and injured many more at the Boston Marathon, Nevada lawmakers are taking steps to ensure large events in the Silver State are prepared when tragedy strikes.
The Assembly approved Assembly Bill 286 by a 26 to 14 margin. The vote was along party lines with the exception of Republican Assemblyman Paul Anderson of Las Vegas siding with the Democrats.
The bill requires hosts of events expected to garner crowds over 2,500 to take certain medical precautions.
Generally, events with at least 2,500 people will be required to have a first aid station. Events more than five miles from a general hospital also require an advanced life support ambulance on site.
Larger expected turnouts incur more mandated precautions.
The bill now heads to the Senate.
