Capital city photographs sought in mural project

A mural under way at the Carson Nugget by area artist Beverly Caputo, which features Carson City landmarks, will include 15 additions from photographs selected by a panel of judges.People who submit photos depicting memorable Carson City moments could be chosen, with the top three winning, in order, a top prize of $500, an iPad and a Kindle Fire.Photos should show something special and distinctly part of the capital city’s history, traditions, community, celebrities, buildings, trends, places or people from pre-1900 to the present.The mural already features special landmarks, people and events, but there is room for the 15 additions so the Nugget is looking for the best people have to offer.The mural is being painted by the Gardnerville artist outside the Nugget’s banquet rooms, where it will be observed by thousands of people each year.To learn more about the contest, visit www.ccnugget.com/memories to upload a photo, or send an email to carsonmemories@ccnugget.com.If people don’t have digital versions of their photos, or don’t have scanners, they may bring them to the Carson Nugget’s customer service center weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call 775-882-1626.
