The Nevada Arts Council has announced grants totaling more than $500,000 to recipients statewide, Carson City organizations among them.
The Carson City Symphony and that symphony’s association garnered $7,370 in two grants. The symphony’s was for $3,741 in the arts education components category; the association’s grant was for $3,629 in the partners in excellence category.
The Carson City Arts Initiative will receive $4,171 in the partners in excellence category, and $3,346 in the arts education component category.
Wild Horse Productions was awarded $3,555 in the partners in excellence group, $3,333 in the education component category.
The Mile High Jazz Band was awarded $848 as an education component grant. The jazz band’s association got $3,047 in the partners in excellence category.
Among project grants awarded was one for $3,296 that went to the Nevada Indian Commission based in Carson City.
Other grants for area recipients included Get in the Act! Arts in Action, Stateline, $3,134; Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Incline Village, $3,398; Lake Tahoe Summerfest, Incline Village, $2,473; Nevada Shakespeare Festival, Dayton, $3,089; Nevada Shakespeare Company, Dayton, $3,137; Carson Valley Community Theatre, Minden, $1,801; Sierra Nevada Guitar Society, Incline Village, $2,253; St. Mary’s Art Center, Virginia City, $3,407; and $2,815 for the Tahoe Arts Project, South Lake Tahoe.
The last organization in part serves Douglas County.
