Obermayr receives scholarship

Virginia City High School senior Corrina Obermayr is the recipient of Soroptimist International of the Comstock 2013 scholarship in the amount of $750.

Obermayr volunteered with Community Chest and at Virginia City High School. She played three varsity sports, participated in Academic Olympics, was on the student council and in the choir. She plans to attend the University of Arizona to study political science and secondary education.

She is the daughter of Erich and Meg Burns Obermayr.

Soroptimist International of the Comstock has awarded more than $9,000 in scholarships over the past nine years. Scholarship applications are accepted from graduating senior females from Silver Stage High School, Virginia City High School and Dayton High School.

Johnston graduates from Gonzaga

Kevin Johnston of Gardnerville graduated cum laude from Gonzaga University on May 12 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

Carson grad named to dean’s list

Jennifer Johnson, a junior history major at Hillsdale College in Michigan, was named to the dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester.

Johnson is the daughter of Mike and Sue Johnson of Carson City. She is a 2010 graduate of Carson High School.

Dutcher graduates from Hartford

Dakota Dutcher of Carson City received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hartford in mid-May.

Grato recognized at Unity College

Carson High School graduate Miranda Grato was recently named to the honors list at Unity College in Unity, Maine. She is pursuing a double major in marine biology and wildlife biology.
