Community band to perform Oct. 27

The Capital City Community Band will open its 35th concert season with a free “old-fashioned band concert” at 3 p.m. Oct. 27 in the amphitheater in the Legislative Mall. The concert is free and open to the public.

This year’s concert will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg and kick off Nevada’s sesquicentennial celebration for 2014. The band also will perform music to honor war veterans, as well as a musical salute to each branch of the service.
