WNC sees boost in enrollment

Despite budget cuts, full-time enrollment has increased 2 percent at the Carson City campus of Western Nevada College.

Enrollment also increased 4 percent at the WNC-Fallon campus and 3 percent at the WNC-Douglas campus.

College-wide, full-time enrollment jumped 28 percent in career and technical education classes over the prior year.

“We continued our partnership with Douglas High School to offer students dual credit high school/college classes,” John Kinkella, dean of Student Services, said in a news release. “We also offered an open house to the community, and our Douglas Campus employees continue to provide outstanding customer service to the students and the public.”

WNC President Carol Lucey said the college expanded its Summer Bridge to Success program to the Fallon campus this year, and it seems to be playing a role in the growing number of full-time students enrolled.
