Officers who began their 450-mile running journey from Southern Nevada to Carson City reached the capital about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The officers, who are taking part in the Memorial Peace Officers Run, were escorted for the last leg of their journey by Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Highway Patrol cars. They were escorted by Douglas deputies until reaching the northern slope of Carson Valley.

They’re set to participate in a ceremony at the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on the Capitol grounds at noon Thursday. The ceremony honors the 126 Nevada law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
