A spot on the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee comes open for a term expiring on Jan. 1, 2018, city government announced Thursday, and Carson City’s Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants.
The citizen-at-large slot is open to registered voters in the city who would volunteer, serving without compensation in a role city government estimates could require a minimum commitment of up to 10 hours monthly.
Anyone applying should understand a submitted application is considered public information, according to the announcement.
The citizens committee makes recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority, which is made up of the same members serving on the governing board; in other words, the mayor and supervisors who will screen applicants. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority by the citizens committee are on things such as redevelopment area plans, incentive programs, special event funding and related matters.
Board interviews of interested citizens who apply are expected at the first regular meeting after receipt of qualified applicants. The board meets the first and third Thursday of each month.
