Reno company hiring for Super Bowl jobs

The ordinary run of business for Reno-based Square One Solutions is recruiting and training workers for construction trades job.

The out-of-the-ordinary is recruitment of workers to squire players, coaches and VIPs around Phoenix during the NFL’s Super Bowl and Pro Bowl early next year.

John Skowronek, who heads family-owned Square One Solutions, said last week the company is recruiting 300 chauffeurs, vehicle runners, group coordinators and airport greeters to work in Phoenix during the NFL’s big events.

Vehicle runners help unload and deliver more than 200 brand-new SUVs that will be delivered for the event. They also serve as backup chaffeurs.

Skowronek said the company is looking for chauffeurs who have driving knowledge of the Phoenix area, although the SUVs will be outfitted with GPS.

Event coordinators will make sure that drivers, airport greets and vehicle runners are in the right place.

The pay, Skowronek says, ranges from $8 an hour for drivers to $10 for airport greets and $12 for coordinators.

But the big earnings are likely to be in the form of tips, he said. Some have made as much as $2,000 during a five-day stint.

It’s not the first time Skowronek’s team has handled the work.

As a former franchise owner for Command Center, a temporary staffing agency, Skowronek handled arrangements for the Super Bowl in the Phoenix area in 2008.

Learning that the Super Bowl would be in Phoenix in 2015, the company responded to a request for proposals from NFL and landed the contract.
