Members of the Kaempfer Crowell law frim gave Honor Flight Nevada a $3,500 donation on Friday. The money will be used to fly a Vietname veteran to Washingtion D.C.

A $3,500 donation was made by the Kaempfer Crowell law firm in Carson City Friday to Honor Flight Nevada, which will defray expenses for a flight by Vietnam veterans next spring.

On hand as a Vietnam era veteran, donned in appropriate veteran’s attire as opposed to his usual government/legal business suit, was Mayor Robert Crowell. The mayor and veteran is the honorary chairman of the first Vietnam Honor Flight Nevada trip to Washington, D.C. next May. The Carson City mayor is a Navy veteran and a partner in the law firm.

Steve Tackes, another partner, made brief remarks as the donation was delivered in a ceremony at the Laxalt Building downtown.

“We thought it would be a very appropriate gift to make,” said Tackes, and he called it a small gesture to “a very good cause.” Also on hand was Severin Carlson, another partner, who said the firm’s decision regarding the donation was unanimous.

The donation went to John Yuspa, founder and chairman of Honor Flight Nevada, and to Frank Reynolds and Tom Spencer, president and vice president, respectively, of Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans Association of America.

Honor flights carry veterans to the nation’s capital so they can visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifices. In May, 55 Vietnam era veterans are expected to make the trip.
