All sorts: Mr. D. L. Bliss’ commodious dwelling has a new addition — a billiard room. Thaxter and Bicknell’s cottages on the upper end of Spear Street are almost complete ... a nice addition to the city. Judge Witherall is building a snug house on Robinson Street, opposite Hawthorne’s dwelling.

Her repertoire embraces “Lucia,” “Mignon,” the “Rose of Sharon.” Her father, Mr. Wilcox, accompanied her to America. Miss Nevada’s voice is sweet and has the quality of carrying so that the lowest note can be heard ...

Goldfield. Jim Sweeney is back from Goldfield, and he says here are 8,000 people and more drifting in. There is a restaurant there called The Palms with wealth of decoration, costly bric-a-brac along with orchestra and operatic music. Waiters in dress suits flit about, and there are automobiles running between Tonopah and Goldfield for a fare of five dollars ...

Inaugural gowns. The “Silver Ladies in Golden Splendor” was previewed at the Joseph Anderson Gallery in the Nevada State Library and Archives. The first lady Dema Guinn said, “I just love Nevada history and now everyone will get a chance to see this.”

Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
