Nevada Indian Tribes Day was Feb. 10 at the Nevada Legislature, where state and tribal representatives gathered to celebrate area tribes.

Attendees included Neil Mortimer, chairman of the Washoe Tribal Council; Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison; Irving Jim, chairman of Washoe Tribe’s Woodfords Community; Sen. Scott Hammond of Las Vegas; Paula Smith, probation officer for the Washoe Tribe; Sen. David Parks of Las Vegas; Sen. Mo Denis of Las Vegas; Alan Mandell, vice chairman of Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe; Vinton Hawley, chairman of Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe; Len George, chairman of Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe; former Assemblyman John Oceguera of Las Vegas; Sen. Pete Goicoechea of Eureka; Marty Montgomery of Gardnerville; Assemblywoman Jill Dickman and John Rupert of Carson City.
