Annual Edible Pedal ride Sept. 20 at Bowers Mansion in Washoe Valley

Early bird registration for the bicycle ride Edible Pedal 100 ends Thursday, Aug. 20, at 11:59 p.m. This century road bike ride featuring food and three ride distances will be held Sunday, Sept. 20.

The Edible Pedal 100 attracts more than a 1,000 riders. All riders depart and finish at beautiful Bowers Mansion Regional Park in Washoe Valley.

“This event has grown substantially over the past five years,” Mark Kattelman, ride director, said. “We are expecting to sell out this year and just want to make sure every rider has a chance to benefit from early registration.”

All types of riders are encouraged to register and ride. The Edible Pedal 100 offers three ride distances — a 10-mile course for families with young children; a 50-mile course through Carson City and Genoa; and a 100-mile course up Kingsbury Grade from Carson City to Lake Tahoe.

The Edible Pedal 100 is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise. Proceeds of the event benefit local high schools, cycling and trail advocacy groups as well as numerous other community and global project.

Registration fees range from $25-$75 and include the ride; fully equipped ride stops; SAG; reusable water bottle; swag bag; post-ride barbecue by Nothing To It Culinary Center with locally sourced food and drink.
