Carson City road report: Right on red onto Fairview off of 580 no longer allowed

The following information applies to the period of Aug. 17-23.

Beginning Sunday, Aug. 16, through Thursday, Aug. 20, crews will be re-striping pavement markings on roadways throughout the city each night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. There will be a moving traffic control at locations where the striping occurs, with minor delays expected.

Minnesota Street is now closed to through traffic between King and Second streets. The area will be used as a public space for special events.

Due to sidewalk improvements, there will be lane closures at the following locations:

Long Street between Carson and Stewart streets (two-way traffic will be maintained)

The outside northbound lane on Carson Street between Park and Long streets

Fall Street at Long Street (narrow lanes)

Peters Street at Long Street (narrow lanes)

The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue construction of drainage improvements on U.S. Highway 50 West between the two truck ramps (just west of U.S. 395 to Sierra Highlands Drive). There will be lane closures weekdays, but the roadway will remain open to traffic in both directions.

Little Lane remains closed from Janas Way to Saliman Road for a reconstruction project. The road will remain closed until project completion. Detours are marked.

The E. William Street shared use path project is underway, and takes place off of the street on the south side of William Street between Saliman Road and Gold Dust West Way. It will not impact traffic on William Street. However, vehicles crossing through the construction area should use caution. The path will be closed for the duration of the project with a marked detour.

Clear Creek Avenue remains closed to through traffic between Lynette Lane and Center Drive due to utility work. Detours are signed and the JAC bus stop on Clear Creek Avenue is temporarily relocated near the intersection of Frontage Road and Clear Creek Avenue.

Work on the construction of the Carson City Freeway continues. Drivers are asked to use caution in the areas around the construction site, particularly along S. Carson Street.

The intersection of Center Drive and Topsy Lane is temporarily a three-way stop to allow for truck crossings on Monday through Wednesday.

Third Street will be closed between Carson Street and Curry Street from noon on Friday, Aug. 21, to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, for an event.

Also, motorists who are heading south on Highway 580 should be aware right turns onto Fairview are not allowed on a red signal with a sign there pointing out that fact.
