The battlefield at Gettysburg was visited at various times during the month of October by 13 generals who commanded during the fight. They were induced to come by Col. Batchelder, who has been engaged since the battle in minutely studying the entire field and all the maneuvers of the great contest.

The Appeal has just received a holiday book entitled “Short Stories” by Sam Davis. It is published by the Golden Era Publishing Company of San Francisco. From a cursory perusal of the contents we are of the opinion that everybody ought to have one.

The Ten Commandments for Christmas giving (continued from Sunday). 3. Thou shalt buy within thy means, remembering the spirit of the gift and not the value. 4. Thou shalt not become party to the mere exchange of gifts. Let thy heart go with each and every greeting or present thou sendest out. (Continued on Wednesday.)

Although the mercury dropped to one above zero last night in Reno, Carson City and neighborhood vicinity enjoyed “warmer” weather, with the minimum temperature hovering around the 15 degree mark.

(Photo caption) Don Riddell and Hazel Woodgate show one of the many 4-H Christmas trees on sale at Bill Davis’ Mobil Station on the south end of town. Later that day, the 4-H’ers donated a tree to the Eagle Valley Children’s home.

The Nevada Federation of Animal Protection Organizations, on behalf of its Nevada member organizations, has joined other animal protection rights groups in opposing rodeos.
