Nevada Artists Association honors winter art show artists

The Nevada Artists Association announced winning artists for its annual winter art show, a judged exhibition. On Saturday evening, awards were presented to participating artists at a reception held in the NAA Gallery. Ribbons and monetary awards were given for first, second and third in seven media categories.

Best of Show went to Holly Whipple of Gardnerville for here oil painting “April in Carson Valley.”

Gary Helseth of Carson City was awarded first place in oils for his still life titled “Sunday Morning.”

The exhibit will run through March 27. The gallery, at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is free, and all art is for sale. Displayed are paintings in oil, acrylic, water color, mixed media and pastels. Also on display are sculptures, pottery, glass and other fine art pieces.
