We are glad to think the Incorporation Act and the Capitol Square Improvement Act, working in unison and with effect, will soon come to quench the nightly bonfires maintained on the plaza by hoodlum boys. A few nights since these young vagabonds kept their fire going till 1 o’clock in the morning.

Third Reading of Bills. S.B. No. 94, by Dangberg — To prevent swine from running at large as free commoners. Provides for a penalty of double the damage done by trespass of such animals. Laid on table.

Ernest Miller, a miner at the Yellow Jacket mine in Gold Hill, had the misfortune yesterday to fracture his left leg in two places, one just above the knee and the other just above the ankle. A slab of rock on which he was working fell unexpectedly.

70 years ago

Immediate salary increases for several of Nevada’s elected officials would be provided under Senate bills offered. One of the measures would increase the governor’s pay to $8,200 annually from $7,000. Nevada’s attorneys general would receive a salary of $6,200.

60 Years ago

Local churches will join with 19,000 churches in the US and many foreign countries in observing World Day of Prayer on Friday with the purpose of uniting all Christians in prayer. Beginning with services on Tonga Island, observance will continue throughout the day.
