Chinese online retailer opens Reno facility

China-based online retailer Light in the Box Inc. is opening a distribution center in Reno.

The 26,000 square-foot facility in the Capital Commerce Center on Joule Street will be the company’s first distribution center in the United States.

“We were looking to expand and get closer to the U.S. customer base, to get products to it more quickly,” says Tisa Agloro, a spokesman for LITB in Seattle.

The company’s search came down to Phoenix and Reno, and it took time to find space in northern Nevada.

The leasing deal was brokered by Steve Kucera, Michael Nevis, J. Michael Hoeck, and Dave Simonsen with the NAI Alliance industrial properties group.

Agloro says the retailer is in the process of hiring up to 14 people to open the center in the next month or so.

LITB sells a variety of products, including wedding and women’s clothing, electronics and housewares.
