Horrible massacre of seven persons (continued from Friday). On the following morning, 12 miles north of Fairview, an entire family of the name of Given, who had occupied a temporary shanty near some willows, was barbarously murdered. Also killed were two men by the names of Charles Brown and Charles W. Leah, camped at the same shanty. — Salt Lake Telegraph.

Come up. The other day, M. Cohn, seeing the editor of the Appeal driving along with a keg of beer in the rear of his wagon, remarked that he would give $10 to see some paper mention the circumstance. Right this way, Mr. Cohn, it was from Klein’s brewery.

There is some consolation in the thought that “conscience makes cowards of us all.” When an irate subscriber threatens to sweep up the office with us, we just set him down as a man, without a conscience and jog serenely on.

Mrs. Fred Berning, her daughter Barbara and son Bill, left today for Al Tahoe, Calif., to join her husband, who is stationed there for the Sierra Pacific Power company for the summer months.

The thinning ranks of the National Observation Balloon Association, Western Section, of World War I, will stage their annual reunion at the Sparks Nugget. The organization was once commanded by the late Major Max C. Fleischmann, a well-known local philanthropist.

Carson Valley Days celebration was plagued with fights, although the crowd attending the annual event was much smaller than usual, according to Douglas County Undersheriff Bernie Curtis.
