JOIN, Inc. announced its new Carson City location is at 716 N. Carson St., where staff members are available to serve job seekers with career training and job placement.
Denise Castle, regional branch manager, said JOIN is extending its outreach beyond Carson City to Dayton, Gardnerville, Incline Village, Minden, Stateline, South Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Wellington, Yerington and to the Washoe Tribe.
Free career courses are offered in partnership with Western Nevada College, Truckee Meadows College, Great Basin College, University of Nevada,Reno, private training vendors, and other accredited organizations. JOIN pays for training in nursing, engineering, CDL truck driving, welding, electrical, forklift operations, project management, dental technician, phlebotomist, human resources, accounting, mechanics, health care, information technology, agriculture, construction and more.
JOIN serves 13 Northern Nevada counties from its six office locations in Carson City, Reno, Fernley, Fallon, Elko, and Winnemucca. It receives primary funding from the US Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Act, allocated by Nevadaworks. Those who have been unemployed due to a job loss, veterans without employment, displaced homemakers, adults dependent on government assistance or dealing other barriers, are eligible to benefit from JOIN’s services.
