Need for correctional officers may come from lack of higher education funding
Proposed cuts to Western Nevada College’s budget and those of other small colleges in Nevada were reported in the Appeal for May 16 (see “WNC budget cut by money committees”). The same article went on to report that a “subcommittee voted to add 100 correctional officers to the prisons’ budget over the coming two years ...”
One cannot help but wonder if the prison system would even need more officers in the future if higher education was adequately funded.
