Votes needed to bring concert series to Carson City

Carson City via the Brewery Arts Center is in the running to bring a 10-week live music series to Carson City during the summer of 2016.

“We are currently in 20th place out of 40 communities, and we really need to be in the top 10,” said Gina Hill, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center. “The Levitt Amp Carson City Music Series Award would be a major victory for Carson City, giving all its citizens access to barrier-free live music. This amount of funding will allow us to bring in major touring acts as well as be a home for our local and regional performers, but it’s going to take the entire community to rally together and vote for it.”

Sponsored by Levitt Pavilions, the national nonprofit behind the largest free concert series in America, the Brewery Arts Center hopes to qualify as one of the 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Carson City Grant Awards.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Grant Awards is a matching grant opportunity created by Levitt Pavilions to serve small-to-mid-sized towns and cities, up to 400,000 people. Fifteen nonprofits, or municipalities partnering with a nonprofit, will receive up to $25,000 each in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series — an outdoor free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.

Brewery Arts Center submitted the proposal for Carson City. The proposed venue site is Minnesota Street Stage. Carson City’s proposal is posted on the Levitt AMP website, http://levittamp.org, for public voting.

A successful campaign for Brewery Arts Center depends on community participation to get as many online votes as possible to bring the concert series to town. Community support, as measured by the number of online votes received, will be one of the key factors when Levitt Pavilions selects the 15 winners.

Supporters are asked to visit https://grant.levittamp.org/voter-registration-page/ to register and vote. Online public voting is open and ends at 5 p.m. Nov. 30. The Top 25 finalists will be selected through online public voting. Levitt Pavilions will then review the proposals of these 25 finalists and the 15 Levitt AMP winners will be announced on Jan. 5.

Brewery Arts Center asks supporters to start spreading the word to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors and rally the community to sign up and vote for Carson City’s proposal.
