The Campagni Auto Group is funding a series of new scholarships for local students who attend Western Nevada College, and it’s encouraging other businesses to do the same.

Dick Campagni, owner of the Campagni Automotive Group, gave the Western Nevada College Scholarship Fund a check for $11,000. The scholarship fund will help 18 students meet their financial needs as they work toward a degree from WNC. Ten scholarships will be awarded to students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, Fallon and Silver Stage high schools to pursue degrees or certifications in automotive mechanics. Eight other scholarships will help students attain associate degrees in the areas of their choice.

At the Northern Nevada Development Authority meeting on Wednesday, the Campagni Auto Group spoke to NNDA members, challenging local businesses to support area students with scholarships. “It’s my hope that this donation inspires other businesses to support area students. As a business community, we need to work together to develop our local workforce,” said General Manager Dana Whaley.

Prior to presenting the donation to WNC President Chet Burton, Campagni spoke to NNDA members about his background in teaching and his affinity for education.

“Carson City Toyota, Capital Ford and Campagni Auto Group as a whole are deeply invested in this community,” said Burton. “They’ve been consistently supportive of Western Nevada College. We’re excited about growing our partnership.”

Campagni Auto Group has been a long-time supporter of Western Nevada College. In addition to funding scholarships, the dealership is also a sponsor of the WNC Soccer Club and the annual WNC Golf Classic. Campagni’s Community Challenge can be found on the WNC website at wnc.edu/foundation.

“Western Nevada College students’ needs run deep,” said Niki Gladys, executive director of WNC Foundation. “Mr. Campagni’s scholarships are incredibly generous. It’s important that our business community join together to support our students as they work to better themselves.”
