Carson City's first NVEnergy truck barn completed Dec. 1 and is open for tours.

With the completion of a new truck barn and Christmas 22 days away, NVEnergy is inviting the public to a family friendly grand opening, holiday bash Saturday morning.

NVEnergy is also seeking donations to give to Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

“We have a robust community outreach donation program,” said Senior Corporate Communications Specialist Sarah Polito. “We always connect with an organization in need.”

The public is encouraged to donate lightly used children books, 2017 day planners and new journals for current victims.

The event also includes free tours of the new facility. The truck barn improves safety and efficiency for Carson City and surrounding communities including residential, commercial and large mining operations. It’s the first of its kind in the area.

Along with the tours, families also can take truck rides and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies from the snack bar. Santa also will be in attendance for photos as well as children’s activities.

The ribbon cutting ceremony begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with festivities lasting until 1 p.m. at 875 East Long Street.
