Water rights need to be protected
There has been only one source covering perhaps the most important trial in Nevada’s water law history. The source being the extreme left “Let’s Talk Nevada” blog, whose opinion obviously clouded their judgment and falsely reported the facts of the case.
The fact is that Robert Coache, former Deputy State Engineer, State of Nevada Division of Water Resources, was found guilty of 50 of 51 charges in a case dating back to 2011.
Coache was charged with 49 felony counts including extortion by a public officer, a public officer asking for and receiving a bribe, misconduct of a public officer, money laundering and 42 counts of illegal financial transactions.
He was also charged with conspiracy to commit extortion by a public officer, conspiracy by a public officer, and conspiracy to use monetary instruments from unlawful activities; all gross misdemeanor charges.
Today, our state’s top water official, the State Engineer, wants “flexibility” to manage conflicts if it turns out the state allowed water pumping that impacts the environment or other users of that water resource.
