Aquatic Facility needs work

A recent visit to the Carson City Aquatic Facility was rather disappointing. The city has deferred maintenance on this facility for years and it is really starting to show its age and potentially causing some safety issues.

The depth labels are worn off in several places, chunks of concrete are missing along the edges, fixtures are rusting, the bottom of the pool is yellow and pealing, and some tiles are losing grout.

The costs of recurring and capital maintenance should be reserved and/or budgeted annually by the city. We have only one public pool in Carson City, let’s improve and maintain it properly so children and adults have a facility to play and train at, they can be proud of, be safe, and enjoy!

Thanks,

Steve Ferguson
