Chief Birdsall is in town. He looks blooming and serene, notwithstanding the excitement yesterday in preventing Sheriff C--h of S--y County from accomplishing his designs upon a lonely traveler in the neighborhood of halfway house, who with but three bits in his pockets was about to “stand and deliver” when Birdsall came along. He swears he saved Chief C--k from getting a thrashing from the three bit man.
