Stage upset. The Pioneer Company’s stage capsized about three miles on the other side of Strawberry. Mrs. Herbert, the mother-in-law of Judge McKeeby, was considerably hurt and bruised about the face and head.

Match boys. Smoke was seen coming from Rickey’s stable and an alarm of fire was sounded from the belfry of the Episcopal Church. The Curry hand engine was quickly on hand, but the barn went up like a tinder-box. The firemen devoted themselves to preventing the spread of flames. The cause of the fire was the work of boys with matches.

All sorts. March is keeping up its reputation and seems bent on going out like a whole dens of lions. The Glasgow and Western Company owning mining property at Golconda, Humboldt County, and Cherry Creek in White Pine, is to resume active work in the current year.

80 Years Ago

Birth. A baby girl weighing at 8.5 pounds was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lyman. The new family member has been named Joan. Mrs. Lyman and baby are at Mrs. May Noonan’s hospital in Carson City and doing nicely.

50 Years Ago

Births. Mr. and Mrs. Richard O. Benjamin, a boy; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin L. Abrams, a boy; Mr. and Mr. Murl R. Heath of Dayton, a girl.

20 Years Ago

Starvation case. Three adults appeared in court after two children, a 16-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother, were locked for five years in the family apartment bathroom. The 4-foot tall girl weighed 40 pounds and her brother 31 pounds.
