Utility money being used for anti-solar campaign?

Lately we’ve been seeing anti-solar TV ads and a brochure included in some NV Energy bills. Is it fair for protected monopoly, NV Energy, to use our utility money to feed us anti-solar propaganda?

The brochure and solarenergyfairness.com state that NV Energy’s new net metering will give the solar owners $100 million over 12 years. This is an insult to the 17,000 rooftop solar owners who have spent over $680 million for their solar setups. With original net metering, households would pay $2 a month average which is a reasonable contribution for a cleaner, greener Nevada. Compare that with the $38 a month households paid for NV Energy’s $379 million profit they pulled out of Nevada in 2015.

It seems the PUC, Legislature and Gov. Sandoval are all OK with every household paying $38 a month to enrich Berkshire Hathaway’s Wall Street fat cats, but not $2 a month to assist fellow Nevadans making a cleaner, greener Nevada.
