Melanie Galvin, branch manager for Fairway Independent Mortgage, was named 2016 Saleswoman of the Year, presented by the Professional Saleswomen of Nevada.

PSN’s Annual SWOTY Awards Program recognizes professional saleswomen for excellence in the field of sales and marketing, who also strive to make the community a better place.

The PSN received 45 nominations for 30 individuals (some nominees receive more than one nomination) for the awards program. Seventeen nominees committed to be considered for the award by submitting additional information to support their nomination. From these, a panel of judges reviewed the nominations and selected the top six scorers to be finalists.

The other finalists were: Cortney Tucker, Courtyard by Marriott Reno; Danielle Loberg, Circus Circus Reno; Jen McDonald, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Drysdale Properties; Jen Gurecki, Coalition Sno; and Lisa Connor, Ascensus College Savings.

Galvin and the other candidates were honored at the 2016 SWOTY Luncheon & Awards Presentation on May 10. Part of the proceeds from the luncheon, raffle and silent auction will benefit Women’s Money, a local 501(c)3 organization that provides programs for sustainable and positive economic change for women and girls. Women’s Money offers seminars, workshops and mentoring. More information can be found at www.womensmoney.org.

PSN also honored a Junior SWOTY, Addyson Fuller of Spring Creek. This 8-year-old Girl Scout has consistently sold more Girl Scout Cookies than any other in the region; more than 2,500 boxes in 2016. It was the third year in a row PSN has honored a junior SWOTY.
