NDOT scores $20M in added highway funding

The Nevada Department of Transportation has won access to an additional $20 million in federal highway funding.

The agency has been successful in winning added highway funding at the end of each fiscal year. Federal highway officials annually reassign transportation funding from states that were unable to use the full amount of money originally authorized for them to spend.

The money is then redistributed to states that have projects that have met all federal requirements and are “shovel ready.”

NDOT Director Rudy Malfabon said over the past 12 years, NDOT has been able to secure more than $165 million in additional funding authority for Nevada transportation projects.
