In the post-recession era, many construction companies are having a hard time finding workers to fill their positions, sometimes to the point of turning down jobs.
The Nevada Builders Alliance will provide information on the H-2B Visa Worker Program during a meeting July 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pinocchio's in Reno, 5995 South Virginia St., in the upstairs meeting room.
Featured speaker will be Kerry Scott of MAS Labor, the country's leading provider of H2 services. He will talk about how the H2B program can help construction companies obtain capable, reliable and legal workers to meet seasonal labor needs and the employer costs/ responsibilities in utilizing H2B workers.
Reed Graham, chief operating officer of Erickson Framing, which has successfully utilized the H2B Visa program for several years, will talk about his company's experience.
The H-2B Visa is a temporary work visa for foreign workers with a job offer for seasonal, non-agricultural work in the U.S. The H2B Visa program is open to nationals of countries designated by the United States Secretary of Homeland Security and is capped at 66,000 visas per year (from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30).
Space is limited so those interested are encouraged to register early. The event is free for Nevada Builders Alliance members and $10 for non-members.
