Help sought in finding missing Silver Springs man

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating 45-year-old Santiago “Sonny” Fernandez, of Silver Springs.

Fernandez’s family members became concerned after they were unable to contact him for several days. He has been missing since June 30.

Fernandez is reported to have not shown up for his construction job in Washoe County since June 28.

A vehicle Fernandez was known to use was located in the Silver Springs area of Lyon County, which led investigators to a residence in Silver Springs. After a search of the residence, investigators recovered evidence that leads them to believe Fernandez may be endangered.

Fernandez is also known to drive a green vehicle described as a late 1990s or early 2000s Chevy or GMC pickup truck. The license plate isn’t known, but the truck has a distinctive white skull-shaped sticker in the back window. A bandana partially covers the face of the skull.

Fernandez is a white male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

The missing man has family ties to the Reno/Sparks area as well as Fallon and Silver Springs.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Detective Division at 775-577-5206 and reference case No. 17LY02525, or contact Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 or www.secretwitness.com.
