Local small businesses will have the opportunity to learn how to enhance their online presence and reach new customers during a free online workshop hosted by Google and Senator Catherine Cortez Masto Friday, June 16 at The Nevada Museum of Art.
Small business owners attending the hands-on workshop will be able to access Google Search and Maps for free, and promote their business with a free website and advertising. The event will enable business owners to contribute in expanding the regional economy. Four in five consumers use search engines to find information about local businesses, but 47 percent of U.S. small businesses don’t have a website and only 37 percent have claimed or updated their business information on a search engine.
Local businesses keep our communities strong. Small businesses that take full advantage of the Internet are three times more likely to create new jobs and experience revenue growth that’s nearly four times as high as the previous year.
“Google wants to help small businesses expand their reach online and support them as they continue to grow and shape the economy here in Reno,” said Emily Harris, Program Manager Small Business Outreach. “This program makes it fast, easy and free for businesses to get online.”
