Mike Goar named to executive post at Heavenly Mountain Resort

Mike Goar has been appointed chief operating officer for Heavenly Mountain Resort. Goar will also oversee Vail Resorts, Inc.’s other properties, Kirkwood Mountain and Northstar California resorts. Vail Resorts also owns Heavenly. Goar most currently served as vice president and chief operating officer of Keystone Resort in Colorado. He has more than 40 years of ski resort industry experience starting out in ski patrol and grooming at Sunrise Park Resort in Arizona. He has held various management positions throughout his career, including 27 years at Solitude Resort in Utah and has been with Vail Resorts since the company acquired Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah, in 2013, where he served as the resort’s general manager since 2007. In addition to Goar’s appointment, Pete Sonntag will transition to chief operating officer of Whistler Blackcomb. Sonntag replaces Dave Brownlie, who has resigned from the position.
