House moving: Change has been made in the town by removal of buildings to new locations. Mr. Evans is fitting up one of these “shells” for his business on Carson Street, directly opposite the St. Charles Hotel. Mr. Hilger has added to the size of his residence in the northwest portion of Carson with the addition of a building taken from the extreme southern portion of the town.

Earl Burlington: Company D, 117th Engineers’ regiment has arrived at a training camp near the front. There are six Lodi boys among 10 in number — Earl Burlington, son of Mrs. Minnie Burlington and brother of Art and Henry Burlington of Carson City. Young Burlington has been promoted to a corporalship since crossing the water.

Carson Chatters (high school news): A “Girl Pilgrim” was chosen by the Sagebrush Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Georgann Miller was chosen from 11 nominated candidates and will be sent to the Girls’ Pilgrim Convention in Washington, D.C.

Pony Express Pavilion ice rink: What should be done with the $2 million facility. “The community wanted an ice rink ...” said Carson resident Kim Aglietti. Parks and Recreation Director Steve Kastens said money was the reason for turning the facility into a roller hockey rink instead of an ice rink. Roller hockey cost $80,000 for the floor, but an ice rink cost $400,000 to $500,000.
