Pedestrian killed in Carson City identified

A pedestrian who was killed when he was hit by a truck on Friday in Carson City has been identified.

Gordon Skogan, 61, of Carson City, was killed when he was hit by a food truck at the intersection of East Long Street and State Street in Carson City. Nevada Highway Patrol stated the preliminary investigation showed a red 1976 Chevrolet food truck was traveling eastbound on Long Street as it approached the T-Intersection with Long Street and State Street. The pedestrian entered the travel lane near the marked crosswalk and was struck by the right front of the food truck. After the impact, the driver of the truck stopped, contacted law enforcement and then waited for the arrival of emergency responders.

Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash.
