For the second year in a row, one of Nevada’s parks is featured in the national America State Parks photo contest.

The winning photo of Sand Harbor was taken by Karen Wong who said she has no photography experience and simply used her smart phone to take the winning picture.

“I’m still in disbelief that my photo was selected and won,” she said. “Our family visited Lake Tahoe for the first time two years ago and it is our favorite lake.”

Last year, a photo of Nevada’s Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park was the national winner of the contest.

Conservation and Natural Resources Director Bradley Crowell said Nevada’s 26 state parks are “an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.”

“We are thrilled that our residents and visitors continue to bring the essence of Nevada’s State Parks to life by sharing their memories, outdoor discoveries and iconic natural and cultural wonders through their own creative lenses,” he said.
