The Popcorn Stand: It’s a legal beagle world record

Those of you who read this Popcorn Stand know I’ll use any excuse to write about my two dogs, Pete the Shih Tzu and Tuf Tuf (you know Sir Tuffington Something or Other), the Jack Russell.

And those of you who choose to read this Popcorn Stand know my fascination with how the human mind works and with unique records. Well today I cover all three.

A British dog owner has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest (single breed) dog walk. Evidently there are different categories for the largest dog walk, so I guess that’s why it’s listed specifically as the largest single breed dog walk.

Sean Parkinson organized the event in which 1,029 beagles and their owners participated in the mass dog walk. Now again I don’t know what goes through Parkinson’s mind, I guess one morning he woke up and said “I’m going to set the world record for the largest single breed dog walk.”

Although I think it’s obviously a cool record. Parkinson was able to shatter the previous record of 783 Yorkshire terriers and their owners participating in a dog walk in Mexico. Again I would have never thought there would have been a single breed dog walking record of 783 dogs to break in the first place.

But if there’s anyone out there who would like to break Parkinson’s record using Jack Russells or Shih Tzus, I would love to be there. It would be my chance to be a part of history.

As far as my own dogs if there’s a “longest lying down with a grumpy old man look on his face” record, I think Pete would have a good shot at that one. Or if there’s a “longest jumping while simultaneously barking at his owner” record, I think Tuf Tuf would have a good shot at that one.

After all, records are made to be broken. Or at least made up.
